On keeping a sketchbook and patience
If you have a favourite version of this, I would love to hear about it someday. Most of the afternoon went by without me noticing. It is funny how the smallest routines end up holding the whole week together. It reminded me how much I enjoy doing one thing at a time.
A friend recommended it years ago and I finally got around to it. I wrote a few lines in my notebook and then simply watched people pass by.
There is a bakery on the corner that opens before sunrise, and I have become a regular. I took the long way back, past the old houses near the water.
The weather changed three times before noon, which is normal around here. I keep a short list of things that made the day better, and this one made it. I am trying to write here more often, even if the posts are short. I did not plan much this time, and it turned out to be the best part.
Nothing dramatic happened, but I came home in a much better mood. By the evening the light was soft and everything looked a little kinder. The first attempt was a small disaster, the second one was surprisingly good.
